i'll be using W10 as long as I havr this Gaming PC I have now, it's pretty good so hopes I can use it until 2027-2028+ Cuz I don't wanna reinstall a fresh windows 11, cuz I using the free version windows 10.
This is the most detailed and relaxing video on a pc build i have ever experienced....Thank you so much.!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
thank you so much
No problem.
This dude needs to make videos again
Thank you sir!
You're very welcome!
Glad to see you back and thank you for the above post, very helpful
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
It sucked having to put your DVD or cd rom into your computer every time you wanted to play a specific game. I always worried about scuffing up the disks of my favorite games.
my hdd health is 13 % !!!!!!!!!!!!! and when i hold it i hear sand sound from it !!
Doesn't sound very good!
Hi Dave. Very good video. Please keep going and make us more!
Thamk you! Will do.
I only needed one reason. My 16-year-old Windows 10 system (wasn't always a Win10, but that's another story) died violently, which multiple events in the system event log. Things like controller errors, apparent head touches, and my main system fan died. The stores aren't selling Win10 unless you have some clout. But beware of the automatic enablement of Bitlocker. THAT is a potential nightmare - DON'T lose your key because you won't be able to have someone recover a dying disk.
Still have games on cd so a cd drive is needed.
You forgot about power requirements.
You probably should have mentioned that Windows 10 doesn’t even include DVD-Video capabilities out of the box! Say hello to a $15 addon on instead! Or just use something like VLC…
HDDs are still meaningful. I had one machine with two HDDs that lasted 13 years. My next machine with an HDD lasted 16 years. By comparison, the SSD died within about 5 years. The speed factor is impressive, sure, but reliability is not a trivial requirement. Silent hard drives? My game is banging away, game sprites are screaming, and game bombs are going off in my headphones. What disk noise was that? Your point about laptops and fragility is valid.
thank you sir
You're most welcome
I was planning to continue on Win10 - until my Win10 box started throwing disk controller and disk surface fault errors. Since it was over 15 years old at the time, though it performed pretty well for a long time, it was time to face facts. So my workaround was "buy a new computer" and therefore I'm on Win11 anyway. Wasn't my plan, but what's that old saying about "best laid plans"?
Yes, I'm sure there are others that have faced the same situation as you... Windows 10 PC stops working after perhaps many years of service, then it's time to make a choice between getting it fixed or buying a new computer.
Great video i clicked on check for updates and windows 11 is ready to install......Thank you!!
That's great! Hope you enjoy Windows 11.
Simple, Install Linux!
Starting to learn linux just for this reason.
After trying Windows 11 on my laptop and really not liking it I threw Mint on it, that was about a year ago. Finally ripped the band aid off and moved my main desktop over to Pop OS and while not painless I've gotten most of my games to work with proton (I don't play many that use anti cheat) and have found replacement apps for most of the things I need that I wasn't already using something cross platform/open source for. I've been using Windows since 95a and work with any number of OS's, there is good and bad to all of them but I'm much happier now that I only have to deal with Windows 11 in small doses when I need to do something on the mini PC I got to run Windows 11 on.
Sounds very much like you're happy with the switch.
Linux! What else?
Migrate to Windows 10 LTSC (supported to 2035)
Thanx for th video. I run an old PC here with an Intel i5 2500 CPU , 16 Gig of RAM and SSD with Win 11 fine for the past 3 years. It still dual boots to Win 10 but it works way better on Win 11. If Microsloth decide to kill the updates for this PC I'll go to Linux Mint that I have on another PC.
I have a computer still running windows 7. Works ok
Get a good antivirus.
Time to move to linux, w11 is so bad it is unusable for me
Windows 11 is utter crap! I consider it malware with spyware galore. That reflects more on the strategic decisions than the developers. Stuff micro$oft!
thanks sir
You're most welcome!
Thanks very much for sharing this vital information!
Glad it was helpful!

Windows 11! Duh!
Linux
@@JohnMintyTech Not many granny’s or pros will switch to Linux. Too much hassle for granny and lack of app support for enterprise.
@@driver288 fair point, however a few elder users I know are getting frustrated at the almost constant changes in the interfaces and behaviour of both Windows. I have shown Mint to one and she is suitably impressed. It's a case of them trying it out. I use W11 at work but would never have it on a home system.
Strait up ... Get your system stable ... use "Windows Update Blocker" (do a search) ... and you can continue to use Win10 just like nothing happened, YEARS beyond its end of support date. It will be no more vulnerable than it is today and you can still update drivers and application software manually. I ran windows 7 for nearly a decade with no anti-virus, no restore points, no swap files, no hibernation, and no updates ... and, guess what? It just worked. All that time not one single problem. If it were not for a hardware failure bringing new computers that won't boot on win7, I would still be using it today. I currently run windows 10 in the same state... with all the telemetry also defeated. So far I haven't had a problem that isn't my own fault while learning how to tweak things up. Hardware permitting, I plan to still be using Win10 way beyond 2030.
Yeah. I do need the CD/DVD drive, especially for being an online dj. I still purchase media.
How can I rip CDs into iTunes without an optical drive. Anyone who thinks physical media is unnecessary is a fool.
Its appalling that MS are forcing people to buy new computers when theirs are not broken, forcing people to throw healthy equipment into landfill. How come legislators in the US and EU havent jumped onto this practise and and told MS to only bring out software that can be run on equipment from say the last 10 years. I believe MS are i operating a cartel with INTEL and AMD to make sure people keep buying new equipment! Wrong, wrong, wrong
Like most major corporations, MS is investor driven. Their shareholders expect "continual growth" which is totally unsustainable and to provide it MS, like many other corporations, happily engage in all kinds of customer manipulations, usually at the customer's expense.
@@Douglas_Blake_579 That may very well be and its up to MS to get continual growth by developing into new things. I stick by what I say. This is the first time MS have `forced` people to go out and buy new equipment when theres nothing wrong with their old equipment. All previous incarnations of Win OS ran on existing software. From the planets and humanities point of view its morally wrong being forced to throw existing and fully working computers into landfill. BTW I had a super fast new PC built in March this year, its running on Win 11 and its the worst version of WIN OS that I've ever had. I cant believe MS have fixed so many things that weren't broke like the right click menu and the Taskbar, which you can modify somewhat BUT it behaves in the most awful way you can imagine. Then theres the tree structure on the left, its now so cluttered duplicating things and Ive yet to find a fix for that. There are so many YT videos on how to set a WIN 11 machine back to behave like a WIN 10 machine its a min cottage industry and take up for WIN 11 is only 34% currently with WIN 10 outstripping it in sales . 11 is universally hated it seems!
Interestingly the hospital I work at is still putting new Windows 7 machines into production and had to reimage quite a few machines after they were taken down by CrowdStrike.
Windows 10 and 11 are largely windows 7 core and api code with window dressing on the desktop. The only reason new computers will not run Windows 7 is that changes in the bios interrupts prevent the installer from running on uefi based machines. There are drivers available to overcome the OS's two limitations of not supporting USB3 and M2 SSD storage. Overcome those limitations and Win7 will still install and run.
Fail and ignorance for not including the best option. Buy a cheap miniPC ($100-140) and run Linux ALONGSIDE your Lose 10 PC. Modern monitors support two computers at once, and it's easy to switch between inputs. Use Lose 10 for that software, and Linux for web browsing. With two PCs on your desk in arm's reach, moving files is easy.
By then it will be windows 13 already 😂😂😂😂
Hope so ... and I hope there's some awakening to customer need in the mean time. I completely skipped over win8 and win8.1 ... and windows 11 is a hard "pass" too.
Before I start watching let me predict two points: 1) You can just continue to use Win-10 and it will keep working 2) You can switch to Linux such as Linux Mint and carry on with your life. Let me see how I did.
#1 for the win!
Just move to Linux, best option. AS suggested in this video -- just be a cautious user and choose VERY carefully if you add a security protection package. I agree with @johnjakson444 comment -- McAfee, Norton, and Kaspersky are not so good and be leary of packages that are automatically downloaded for sites.
Yes, it is best to disconnect any windows machine from the internet and never install anything onto it.
good, same situation as my Win7 desktops, just keep them off the web and using something else for the web goodness no, no one should be using McAfee, Norton or Kaspersky
Glad to see you back with another video
Thank you!
Hes back!
According to me when Microsoft ends support on any windows operating systems I stop downloading anything on that operating system when I continue using it.
I've been a Windows user since version 3. I have 2 old devices that use Windows 10 that will not update to 11. So two weeks ago I went with what you list as option 3 and yes I chose Linux Mint. I'm very happy and will never go back to Windows again.
Good to know you're happy with Linux Mint.
Linux Mint with Cinnamon Desktop is an excellent choice, you will enjoy. I have been using Mint for 10 years. You might want to take a look a Vanilla Linux as well.
I also use Linux Mint but I migrated from a different Linux.
This video helped me restore my pc to its original state, but my Windows search bar isn’t working how it used to. It can’t find anything in windows settings and the search in Windows settings is also broken. Do you know how to fix this?
Love that you included Linux as an option - its more viable than ever! I've been dual booting for nearly two years now and I'm at the point where 95% of my time in on Linux, including gaming (via Steam proton)! Thanks for another good one!
Yes, I think Linux is a good option for those that can't upgrade to Windows 11 due to hardware compatibility issues. Dual booting (like yourself) is a good way to try it out too.
glad to see you back, by the way dont use kaspersky because its spyware
Thank you!
Great to see you back old mate. Best voice on the interwebby thingy. I suppose they want to get you to upgrade for profit reasons, but why change it if it aint broke?
Thank you! Yes, I remember when they said Windows 10 was the final version, then out came Windows 11, and later we will no doubt see Windows 12.
